Mr Cuthbert Morrell bought this property and No. 51 for renovation by Mr Harvey Rutherford, the York architect, in 1930-31. The whole of the jettied front was formerly plastered. During the removal of paper in a rear room on the first floor there was revealed a section of late 15th century to early 16th century decoration in black which confirmed the date of the original construction.

This property was transferred to the Trust in 1957.
